Using a home gym has never been easier. The Body-Solid G1S Home Gym combines extreme durability with an economic space saving design. The sturdy electroplated powder coat finish resists even the hardest hits and won’t chip, scratch, or peel. Constructed from heavy duty 12 gauge steel, the Body Solid G1S is the definitive in power, utility, and durability. All five stations on the G1S boast self-lubricating bronze bushings and precise pivot points, allowing the shaft to rotate freely without friction, for smooth movements and flow.
41/2 inch pulleys are made of impact resistant fiberglass and durable nylon. Add to that the meticulously machined steel ball bearings, for extended cable-life. The cables are made from 2,200 lb, steel air craft cables constructed to military specifications, and covered with a nylon sheath for low upkeep. With the unique design of the G1S users will never have to change a cable.
DuraFirm™ pads give the utmost in lumbar support and comfort, averting lower back strain. The chrome plated seat post is telescoping for fast modification, aligning the body into the correct position. The G1S employs a 160lb alloy weight stack. Sophisticated alloy plates are machined to precise specifications and the high tech nylon bushings provide sleek, silent operation.

What's the difference between EXM1500S and G1S?
They are similar- the newer G1S is based on the older 1500S. The G1S has optional aluminum pulleys and is dark grey instead of white.

Is the height 83' at the highest point . I am concerned because the H of my basement is only 84' so it is a little tricky.
I measured the highest point and it measure 83.5″
Should fit under 84″

There are individual weights you can add in 5lb increments per their web site.

Did your order come with small plastic bags (containing nut & bolts) that are labeled g1s-1 to g1s-11? mine is missing bag #3. is this normal?

The shipping weight is 434 lbs. How is it normally shipped, and how do i get it up to the house and into the door?
It was shipped in multiple boxes, each one brought into the house on a dolly by one person.

Unfortunately there is no leg press attachment on the G1S but it does feature a leg curl station.

Can anyone tell me if there is a weight stack upgrade available for this item?
No. You would need a longer selector rod and a shorter cable to use extra weight plates, and Body-Solid doesn’t offer those parts for the G1S.

You’re going to receive three boxes. Package 1 will weigh 71.7 lbs, Package 2 74.1 lbs and Package 3 37.4 lbs.

I'm 6'5" tall. Will I be able to use this machine comfortably?
That shouldn’t be an issue. The machine stands seven feet, so with you seated the pulldown bar should still provide a decent range of motion for you.

I get the sense that performing lat pulls straight down may be cumbersome with the chest press bar possibly in the way. Is that the case?
Well, when you pull down, if you are seated, the bars are not in the way…..I sometimes do lat pulls in a backwards seated position on the seat. Sometimes I stand in front of the machine and pull down. I kind of pull at a slight angle from the machine towards my body. It is not an issue at all, once you perform the exercise a few times and get used to the feel of the motion of that particular exercise. This is a fantastic machine – my husband and I love it! I do the lat pull downs facing the back rest it is definitely a tight pull down area. I still think this is a great weight equipment set up for small spaces.
It will not give you the type of work out you’re looking for at a full gym. Fills home needs. I bought a small flat bench to put next to it to do other types of chest and back exercises

Are the plates steel or plastic coated?
They are steel and not plastic coated. They are painted black so it appears that the weights are coated. There is noise when one weight is dropped onto the weight stack. Hope this helps. It is a great gym, we love it! 🙂

This gym has cast iron plates. They are covered under a lifetime warranty as are all parts on this gym.

"Pretty good home gym for all around workouts. A sturdy machine though certainly not commercial grade as you do need to treat it a little more gentle than those at the gym. It would be difficult for a really large person to maneuver into position for some of the work outs due to the configuration (especially for lat pulldowns) but its fine for the average sized human. Assembly was a bear as many reviewers have already noted but I'm a solo female in her 40's and I managed to do it without any help in the same time it took all the boys on here to do. Just be prepared to spend a day on it, lay out all of the parts in advance and read the directions very carefully. I did alot of research before making this purchase and I'm pretty happy with it so far. It will supplement other fitness regimes quite nicely."

It is a very compact and practical home gym. It would have made it easier to assemble if the nuts and bolts details had been placed in the front of the manual instead the back. But all in all, it is a very good buy!
