CUSTOMER QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What gauge is the steel?
It is commercial grade, definitely heavy material. I don’t have a micrometer, but I’d say 11-12 gauge.
Answer #1 on March 12, 2015
I see this lacks cushions typically located near the foot plate that press against the calves when laying facing down. Does this affect stability?
Foam roller models allow for forward extensions, but won’t allow for comfortable side bend extensions. The plate option allows a bit more variance in body positioning.
Answer #1 on January 13, 2018
I am 5ft 2 in. Will this work for me so that the cushion is at the correct place? I find contradictory information in the reviews.
Works for me I’m also 5ft 2 in!
Answer #1 on December 29, 2015
I am 5’6″ and it (the cushion) hits me at the top of my leg just below pelvic area. Which for me is Perfect. Not certain if that helps you and where you prefer the cushions to rest.
Answer #2 on December 30, 2015
What are the overall dimensions? I'm wondering how much floor space it takes up.
50″ x 26″ is the floor space this item will take up. For the best customer service be sure to purchase from the Fitness Emporium.

What is the mechanism for moving the unit up and down to adjust height?
There is a spring loaded bolt with a large plastic knob on it. You just loosen the bolt, pull the knob out and slide the top up or down to desired height. Then twist the bolt tight again. There are several pre drilled holes that the bolt can be adjusted with.

If lifting plates do the handles get in the way? Can you remove the handles?
No, the handles do not come off, but plates do not get in the way. The handles are quite wide. They fan out from 20-23 inches from the base to the ends of the handles. I use dumbbells for side bends with no issue of course, but I also use 25-35 pound plates against my chest with elbows out a little bit doing lower back bends straight up and down. I could do 45s as well without issue (but I just find those to awkward and go with dumbbells if I need heavier). I am 6ft 250 pounds. Very solid bench and a great value. I looked for a while and I doubt you will find anything negative about this one.
Answer #1 on January 10, 2018
How does it weigh?
It weighs just over 70 lbs., but high quality construction and materials and balance, would make you think it is much heavier. This is a 1st class piece of equipment!
Answer #1 on July 29, 2016
Does it need to be bolted to the floor?
Not at all. It’s very stable even with 250lb person holding 90lb (2x45lb) plates.
Answer #1 on December 1, 2019
Can you do front-facing dips using the handles attached to the pad?
It will not support your weight due to the leverage being in the opposite direction that the original setup was designed for. Perform at own risk.
Answer #1 on November 11, 2014
What is the weight capacity for the user plus extra weight such as loaded barbell, plates etc.?
Maximum capacity is 300 LBS
Answer #1 on May 14, 2018
Can I get distance in inches from the foot rest to the farthest point of the cushion, in both fully extended and fully retracted positions?
It is 42.5″ in the extended position and 37.5″ in the retracted position.
Answer #1 on November 26, 2018
Can you do forward facing dips using the handles?
I confirmed this can be done. I weigh 165 and had no worries. Hope this helps.
Answer #1 on November 14, 2014
Are the handle bars space far enough apart that a larger (230lbs) man's body can extend below and between the bars? I need to stretch down low.
The handle bars are 10 inches long from the base to the grip. The width is 20 inches at the bottom, 21 inches in the middle and 22 inches at the end with the handle bar grip. I’m 5’11” and 207 lbs and have plenty of room.
Answer #1 on March 11, 2018
What is width of gap between pads, to allow room for not squishing man parts?
The width is 3″. Should be plenty of space for most.

BODY-SOLID 45° HYPEREXTENSION (GHYP345) EXERCISE BENEFITS:
"Several reviews have commented negatively about packaging. Mine came recently, and the packaging was excellent. Box in good shape, parts strapped down, and nothing moving around. I did notice, as did another reviewer, that a few of the parts were already assembled. For example, the pads were on the handles, while the instructions had a step for installing the pads on the handles. A couple of other items were like that. Could be repackaging a return, but also could be that something that BS has done since the last instructions were printed. BTW, assembly is easy. I'm a klutzy 69 year old. So I took my time. 1.5 hours start to finish, with lots of coffee breaks along the way. People with normal abilities can do it much faster. The instructions are very, very clear, and all the bolts and washers are clearly numbered and labeled. Really easy. In terms of the equipment, my preliminary impression is very favorable. I used to have a Powerline 90degree unit (PCH24X). It was not a good fit, and I had to discontinue use. At least for me, this unit with its 45 degree angle and excellent footpad (allows the legs to be straight) is much gentler on the back. Maybe it is not as good of a workout for the lower back, but that is a compromise I will accept happily. I'll update this review after a few months of use Update after 2.5 years - still looks like new after continuous use for nearly three years. It has had the intended effect of strengthening my lower back, and I also find using the side bends a terrific way to exercise the obliques. No regrets whatsoever on this purchase."

"This did not disappoint. We were looking for a gym quality sturdy machine that was not cheap and flimsy like a lot of the other ones for sale. Heavier than expected but I fully expect this thing to last a long time with no issues. The packaging from the manufacturer is less than desirable so by the time it made it here UPS had tossed it around enough that some of the bolts had come loose out of the box. Gronk fitness helped me out and took care of it no questions asked during covid quarantine times. My fiancé is super stoked to have her favorite machine in our basement gym. Couldn’t be happier. Side note. I am very careful with directions and follow directions by words and pictures but the pictures are somewhat deceiving. I had to take the base apart and flip it because the drawing shows three holes on the bottom of the main support but you need to pay attention to the holes for the vertical support to get it right."

"Easy to assemble - provided you have the right tools Easy to use - not complicated Durable materials - the cushion coverings are a little suspect NOT for people under 5 feet 6 inches tall I read most reviews and was apprehensive about this warning - I’m between 5’6” and 5’7” so I’m at the short end of the user height range. If you’re shorter than me, think about it really hard"

BODY-SOLID 45° HYPEREXTENSION (GHYP345) EXERCISE BENEFITS:
"I bought this after going through physical therapy for some severe back spasms I had. As part of my release from the program, I'm responsible for continuing my maintenance plan. I selected this one because it was the same as the one at my therapy. It is easy to use and has comfortable hip pads. My dr. wrote me a formal 'letter of medical necessity' and I was able to expense it through my flex spending account! My gym has a old one, the pads are hard/uncomfortable and it always sticks so badly I have to ask a guy with arms almost as big as my waste to adjust the height setting. Also the gym puts it in a location that your butt sticks in the air in the middle of the free-weights section. I hated using the one there. It's great having one of my own in my home. The one down side to this unit, I'm a female about 5'7". I set the unit to the lowest setting. I need to wear gym shoes for the extra leg length, to have the unit fit property. Something you should consider if you are shorter than me."

"Solid piece of equipment for home. I’m about 5”5’ and it might be a little too long for anyone shorter because my hips JUST meet the edge of the pads at the lowest setting. Solid build and easy to operate. Great for back, ab & oblique exercises and it cracks my back like MAGIC... When I lean forward into a hang and push against the hip pads, it separates all the little compressions in my spine :) It’s one of my favorite pieces in the gym and I’m excited to have access to it at home. Highly recommend if you don’t mind putting some “elbow grease” into assembling it!"
