Heart Rate % Profile
Heart Rate training is proven to be one of the best ways to measure your workout. Our Heart Rate % Profile gives you a quick reference of your % compared to maximum projected heart rate. The LED lights up in Amber for 50-60%, Green for 65% to 80%, and Red for 85%+.
Muscle Activation Profile
It’s important to understand which muscle groups are gaining the most benefit during your workout. On our fitness bikes, you will be using your glute (bottom), hamstring (back of your thigh), quad (thigh), and calf muscles. The LED lights will activate in three degrees of engagement: Green represents minimal muscle involvement, Amber for medium involvement, and Red, full or heavy involvement. Use this quick reference to challenge yourself during your workout.
Mp3 Audio Jack & Speakers
We know how important it is to be able to enjoy your favorite music as you workout, so we included an MP3 audio jack for you to plug in your choice of MP3 player or cell phone. (Adapter cord provided)
Remote Adjustment Keys
The user has the ability to adjust the resistance level from the handlebars on each side of the seat.
Durability
All Spirit Fitness bikes are built with extra-heavy-gauge steel tubing to give them a stable base, and use high-quality bearings rather than bushings to ensure a longer life and smoother cycling action.
Comfort
The seat is a high durometer foam pad, while the back rest is a nylon mesh that allows air flow for added comfort.
Adjustability
Our fitness bikes not only allow forward and backward seat adjustment , but they also feature a back rest adjustment that reclines for individual comfort & preference.
Foot Pedals
2⁰ of inversion of each pedal places your body into an anatomically correct position throughout the workout.
Transportation
There are transport wheels integrated into the front floor support tube for ease of repositioning. Simply lift and tilt the front end to roll the unit to your desired location.
Programs
Hill: This program follows a triangle or pyramid type of gradual progression from approximately 10% of maximum effort (the level that you chose before starting this program) up to a maximum effort which lasts for 10% of the total workout time, then a gradual regression of resistance back to approximately 10% of maximum effort.
Fat Burn: This program follows a quick progression up to the maximum resistance level (default or user input level) that is sustained for 2/3 of the workout. This program will challenge your ability to sustain your energy output for an extended period of time.
Cardio: This program presents a quick progression up to near maximum resistance level (default or user input level). It has slight fluctuations up and down to allow your heart rate to elevate, and then recover repeatedly, before beginning a quick cool down. This will build up your heart muscle and increase blood flow and lung capacity.
Strength: This program has a gradual progression of resistance up to 100% of maximum effort that is sustained for 25% of workout duration. This will help build strength and muscular endurance in the lower body and glutes. A brief cool down follows.
Interval: This program takes you through high levels of intensity followed by recovery periods of low intensity. This program utilizes and develops your “Fast Twitch” muscle fibers which are used when performing tasks that are intense and short in duration. These deplete your oxygen level and spike your heart rate, followed by periods of recovery and heart rate drop to replenish oxygen. Your cardiovascular system gets programmed to use oxygen more efficiently.
Custom: An individual can store personal information and design a custom program that can be saved for future use. You decide what the resistance will be for each segment of the program.
Fit Test (YMCA Protocol): The fitness test is based on a sub-maximal Vo2 (volume of oxygen) test. The program will gradually increase resistance until the time expires or you reach 85% of projected heart rate maximum (calculated when entering age in the programming portion). Based on where the test finishes, your score will be calculated and can be compared to others in your age group to determine your cardiovascular level of health.
Manual: The Manual program works as the name implies, manually. This means that you control the workload and not the computer.
User (2X)
Two people can store personal information and design a custom program that can be saved for future use. You decide what the resistance will be for each segment of the program.
Heart Rate (2x): Designed to help keep you within 3-5 heart beats of your target heart rate % by automatically increasing or decreasing the resistance level. Heart Rate 1 has a 60% (better for a fat loss goal) of projected heart rate maximum default. Heart Rate 2 has an 80% (better for a cardiovascular conditioning goal) of projected heart rate maximum default.

Is there a lumbar support?
I suffer from spinal stenosis in my lumbar. As a result it’s painful to do much exercise except with this bike. There is No lumber support per se but the seat back is adjustable and very comfortable. Adjusting it helps ease my back pain.

Does the bike make noise, magnetic humming sound, and often a small but present click sound. Had a Schwinn bike for years with no noticeable sound.
We’ve only ran ours for about 300 miles so far and it doesn’t make any noise. When my wife rides it I have to go downstairs to make sure she is there. It is very quiet.

Yes there is, in the back of the owners Manuel you will see a section labeled “engineering mode” there it will explain how to get the screen to sleep.

You need to go into the Engineering Mode and go into the Functions and pick Display Mode and select off and it’ll turn off after 20 minutes.
To enter the Engineering Mode
Menu, press and hold down the Start, Stop and Enter keys. Keep holding the keys down for about 5 seconds and the
Message Center will display Engineering Mode Menu. Press the Enter key to access the menu.

"I've had the Spirit XBR55 recumbent bike for a little over a week now and am so happy I decided on this make and model. I use it at least a couple of times a day. Sometimes as a vigorous workout, sometimes just to sit and cruise in street clothes for half an hour. The bike is very solid and stable. It's pretty much silent when you're riding. The seat is extremely comfortable! The console is well laid out, although, like many fitness equipment setups, if you have a large tablet on the shelf then you can't see the console display. The fan is better than most. The speakers sound like what you'd expect. Not great, no bass, but adequate. I debated spending less and getting the xbr25 model but I'm glad I upgraded. The adjustable seat back is great! Also I wanted the extra five years warranty on parts (10 years as opposed to 5). The only disappointment is the sadly pathetic Spirit Fit app. It quits if you open any other apps and even if you can get it to track your workout, it does not sync with either Fitbit or MyFitnessPal like it should. Altogether, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. This is a well built piece of equipment that will last many, many years."

"I used this same brand unit at my physical therapy place (recover from broken hip) and it helped so much decided to buy one for home. The unit I got was mechanically the same as the one I used in therapy but the one I got did not have the same software package so was a bit less expensive. The instructions or lack of is where this unit falls down, good thing I got the delivery guy to put it together for me, he did a great job but really wish there was a better explanation of how to use the different programs.
