TuffStuff PPF-720 Chin / Dip / Leg Raise – The Proformance Plus Chin/Dip Leg Raise by TuffStuff is a 3-in-1 workout station that enables you to work every major muscle group in your upper body, along with your core. Dips have often been called “upper body squats,” and with good reason. Just as the squat is the king of lower body developers, the dip may well be the best exercise for developing slabs of muscle on the chest, triceps, and deltoids. Lean forward for more chest and shoulder involvement or assume a more upright position to target the triceps.

Chin-ups or pull-ups round out a complete upper body workout by hitting the back and biceps. Take advantage of the unique design of the chin-up bar to utilize a variety of different grips and target the muscles with different emphasis by making subtle changes to your hand position. For more biceps involvement, place the biceps in their strongest pulling position by using a supinated grip (palms facing you). For more involvement from the latissimus dorsi, use a pronated grip (palms facing away). And for a balanced approach that spreads the stress evenly over both the back and biceps, use a parallel grip (palms facing each other).

Blast your abs with a few sets of bent knee or straight leg raises. Turn your legs slightly to one side and then the other to target the obliques. Regardless of the variation you choose, the padding on the contoured arm supports is cleverly angled so that your arms won’t slip out in the middle of a set. If you hit these three basic exercises that we all learned in middle school PE class hard, you won’t need anything else for a complete upper body workout. Advanced trainees can even increase the degree of difficulty by adding weight. The easiest way to add weight to chins and dips is by using a dip belt to hang weight plates or a kettlebell from a chain attached to your waist on a leather strap. Ankle weights or resistance bands are typically used to add weight to leg raises.
